Kate Stoney is an international communications officer with over 15 years of experience initiating and managing communication initiatives, ranging from donor stakeholder reporting for development financing to the production of multimedia marketing material in a B2B context. She is currently Senior Communications Officer with the Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) Division of the African Development Bank. Kate first joined the AfDB as a Communications Consultant and enjoyed the challenge of time-bound assignments in the development arena. During the 6-year period from 2015 to 2021, she gained knowledge of African infrastructure development financing from long-term missions across sectors to support operations. She successively worked in the Water and Sanitation Department, the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department, and the Power, Energy, Climate and Green Growth Complex. During the period 2007 -2014, Kate was a Communications Manager for the Swisscom group and was one of the team from Europe who accompanied the opening of a West Africa subsidiary. Prior to her work in the African context and capitalizing on the period of globalization and the mobile technology revolution of the late 90’s, she founded and successfully ran a company providing Communications and Marketing services to International groups operating in France. Kate holds a Master's degree in Communications, specializing in humanitarian and community causes, from Lyon II University, France.
