IDEV joins the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results for a regional roundtable on evaluation in West Africa

The Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) supported the round table "Evaluation as a tool for mainstreaming public policies in the WAEMU region: state of play and perspectives", held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from 22 to 24 November 2023. The event was organised by the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR) for Francophone Africa (CLEAR-FA) and other development partners, including IDEV.

Niger: Validation of the Mid-Term Review of the AfDB Country Strategy Paper (2018-2022)

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) conducted a validation of the mid-term review of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB or “the Bank”) Country Strategy Paper (CSP 2018-2022) for Niger. At the time of preparation of the mid-term review (August 2021), the Bank’s portfolio comprised 13 active projects worth a total of USD 620 million, encompassing 8 national and 5 multinational projects. 

Project Cluster Evaluation of the AfDB’s Technology for African Agriculture Transformation (TAAT) Program

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB or “the Bank”) conducted a project cluster evaluation of the AfDB’s Technology for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) program’s first phase over the period 2018-2021. This program, launched in 2018, is an integral part of AfDB’s Feed Africa Strategy 2016–2025 and aims to harness proven technologies to raise agricultural productivity in Africa, mitigate risks, and promote diversification and processing. 

Benin: Evaluation of the AfDB Country Strategy and Program (2012-2021)

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) at the African Development Bank (AfDB or "the Bank”) conducted an evaluation of the Bank's country strategies and programs in Benin over the 2012-2021 period. Over the decade, the Bank approved 31 projects, for a total of UA 688.13 million, in the infrastructure, energy, water and sanitation, agricultural, and governance sectors.

Evaluation of Mainstreaming Green Growth and Climate Change into the AfDB's Interventions: Energy and Transport Cluster

This project cluster evaluation of the African Development Bank’s (AfDB or “the Bank”) support for and mainstreaming of Green Growth and Climate Change (GG-CC) into its energy and transport interventions is a building block in the overall corporate evaluation of mainstreaming GG-CC into the AfDB's interventions. It covers seven energy and transport projects in five countries: Cameroon, Morocco, Mozambique, Rwanda and Senegal, for a total value of UA 394.4 million.

Strengthening Agricultural Water Management to Feed Africa

Independent Development Evaluation at the African Development Bank (the Bank) has conducted a cluster evaluation of nine agricultural water management projects that were approved and implemented by the Bank in seven African countries from 2005 to 2016. With a total net approval amount of UA 150 million, the projects sought to improve irrigation, drainage and flood control, water conservation and storage, and on-farm water management. The agriculture and rural development sector has been a priority for the Bank in supporting livelihoods.
