South Africa : Evaluation of the AfDB Country Strategy and Program (2004-2015)

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) has carried out an evaluation of the Country Strategy and Program of the African Development Bank Group (“the Bank”) in South Africa  over the period 2004-2015. The evaluation is intended to inform the next country strategy paper (CSP) due in 2018; and to contribute to accountability and learning. To provide solid evidence for its findings, the evaluation included thorough project assessments and reviewed the broader portfolio of strategies and of non-lending activities.

Evaluation of the African Development Bank Group's support to its Regional Member Countries in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) conducted an evaluation of the African Development Bank Group's COVID-19 response. Based on its experience in recent years during the Ebola epidemic, the Bank adopted a package of COVID-19 response measures to help its Regional Member Countries (RMCs) to mitigate the multifaceted impact of the pandemic.

South Africa: Validation of the AfDB Country Strategy Paper Completion Report (2013-2017)

This Validation Note of the Country Strategy Paper Completion Report for South Africa is the first of its type for IDEV. The purpose of the Validation Note is to provide an independent review and validation of the African Development Bank’s self-assessment of its country program performance, using the Combined Country Strategy Paper 2013-2017 Completion Report and 2017 Country Portfolio Performance Review for South Africa.

Bank Staff discuss Program Based Operations in a series of workshops in Pretoria, Nairobi, and Abidjan.

On 26 June 2019, around 30 staff members of the African Development Bank (AfDB or the Bank) discussed “Optimizing the Bank’s Program Based Operations (PBOs) Support as a Package” in a workshop at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The event was the third in a series of workshops organized jointly by IDEV and the Bank's Governance & Public Financial Management Coordination Office.
