On 30th May 2023, over 70 participants attended the gLOCAL session titled, “Moving forward together: The benefits of the Twende Mbele initiative on M&E practice in Africa,” organized by the Independent Evaluation Function (IDEV) of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), in partnerships with the Twende Mbele Secretariat.
The primary purpose of this round table is to discuss how IDEV evaluation methods and approaches have evolved before and during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how evaluations can help inform the “building back better” agenda.
Africa has the world's youngest population, with a median age of 19.7 years. However, Africa's youth population is quickly increasing, with over 830 million predicted by 2050. This increase in the working-age population, if effectively exploited, may enable higher productivity and more inclusive economic growth across the continent.
