Evaluation of the AfDB’s Transition Support Facility

Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB or “the Bank”) carried out an evaluation of the Bank´s Transition Support Facility (TSF) over the 2014–2019 period. This evaluation follows on from IDEV’s evaluation of the AfDB’s Strategy for Addressing Fragility and Building Resilience in Africa (2014-2019), concluded in 2020.

IDEV publishes its 2019 Annual Report

For Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV), 2019 was a year of helping the African Development Bank Group (“the Bank”) and its Regional Member Countries to transform experience into knowledge and learning through independent evaluations, and supporting them to achieve their development goals through the lens of the AfDB’s High 5 Priorities, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the African Union Agenda 2063.

Findings and Lessons from AfDB Crisis Response Budget Support Operations

This note highlights relevant findings and lessons from evaluations of Program-Based Operations (PBOs), otherwise known as budget support. Its aim is to help the African Development Bank (“AfDB” or “The Bank”) in providing support to African countries for their policy responses to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The lessons are meant to inform the design of the Bank’s Crisis Response Budget Support (CRBS) interventions to assist countries in combating COVID-19 and mitigating its negative effects.
